Mediation

Bobbi J. McGehee is a registered mediator. She has had many hours of mediation training and experience.

Mediation is a process by which parties fashion their own agreement or resolution to a problem without resorting to a long, expensive court battle. Studies have shown that parties who reach agreement through mediation are more likely to keep their commitments and to be satisfied with the outcome of the mediation than similar parties whose differences are resolved by a court process.

The mediator's role is to facilitate the parties' decisions. The process is entirely confidential. Nothing said in mediation can be used in a subsequent court proceeding. Any party involved in a dispute of any kind - from divorce to property disagreements to will contests and everything in between - may choose a mediator rather than taking the matter to court. Success depends on the cooperation of all parties involved, but a good mediator will help the parties achieve consensus and focus on areas of agreement and disagreement in order to resolve their issues quickly.

Mediation is always less expensive than a court-resolved solution to disputes.
